The Undersea Comes to Life with Mardles

I don’t know why they didn’t have these modern-day fun books and toys when I was growing up! Well, I do know. We weren’t so modern then. According to the modern generation of kids, those were the olden days! What cheek!

Well, I’ve come upon a really modern take on reading for fun. As a teacher, this is right up my street as I love to encourage reading from as early an age as possible.

The book I am reviewing is called Stanley the Seahorse. It is a Mardles book.  So, you know it means good quality from a really good brand.

The fun thing about this children’s book is that it can stand alone as a bedtime storybook, but it can also be used with the free Mardles app which is much more fun for kids. The app can be used with the book and also with the stickers that you can purchase to use the book.

What does the free Mardles app do?

First of all, the app is free to download from the app store or play store.  After the app is downloaded, the child can then use it without Internet access.

The app actually brings the story to life and makes it much more exciting! What do I mean by that? Here’s a video of what the app can actually do.

How impressive is that? This 4D interactive storybook is a child’s dream! I am personally going to surprise Shania, 8 years old with this book, stickers and app and I am sure she will be left speechless, but only for a bit.

I really like the way the book is written in a rhyming way which helps the little ones with their reading. Bedtime reading is now going to be even more fun.

The book is about Stanley the seahorse and his friends who want him to know that he can achieve almost anything he puts his mind to. This is such a good slant for children at this age as it helps to build their confidence.

I really love the book, app and stickers. My only fault is that I think that especially for the underwater scenes, there should be some sound of swishing water as the sea creatures go by. Maybe Mardles can see this as a suggestion for development.

For this reason, I would rate it as a four out of five.
