My Review of Handy Hoover

Handy Hoover Product Review

So I’ve got a really useful vacuum for my cleaning needs. It’s cordless, so it doesn’t hold me back when I am cleaning. The only drawback is that it is not very convenient for the stairs. And as well, it does not clean the crevices of the stairs well. So I went on the lookout for a cordless, hand-held electric vacuum.

I read some reviews and went with the Handy Hoover which I purchased on Argos.

Handy Hoover Product Review So I’ve got a really useful vacuum for my cleaning needs. It’s cordless, so it doesn’t hold me back when I am cleaning. The only drawback is that it is not very convenient for the stairs. And as well, it does not clean the crevices of the stairs well. So I went for a cordless ...

  • It was pretty easy to assemble. Tick.
  • It was light-weight, so easy to manage to take up and down the stairs. Another tick!
  • I was ready to use the vacuum but then noticed that it had to be plugged in for at least 24 hours before first use so that the battery could be fully charged. Cross!

After the 24 hours of charging, I set about to use the vacuum. Initially, I was not amazed by the results, so I put the vacuum to the palm of my hand to ascertain its suction power. There was none, honestly. I was expecting the vacuum to be sucking the skin of my palm but that was not happening. To say I was disappointed is, to put it mildly.

I persevered with it and it did do some bits on the stairs. If I let it remain in one spot for an extended time, it does that spot. There is no point in moving the vacuum too fast over an area because it just does not work. It is therefore very time consuming to vacuum just the stairs. There just isn’t enough suction power.

As well, after spending just under 30 minutes on 6 steps, it was out of charge! Pathetic!  At that point, I had to put it back to charge. For the rest of that day, I had so many things to do, I did not get back to cleaning the other steps. Needless to say, when I did get round to it, the other steps were messy again and needed to be cleaned again. So I started from the top of the stairs and again, the vacuum ran out of charge before I had finished the stairs.

One of the selling points on the Handy Hoover is that since it is cordless (portable) then it would be effective in cleaning the usual mess from the car. You can think again. The vacuum is useless to pick up tiny little bits of pebbles that come from shoes coming in the car. The vacuum could also do with a smaller end so that the crevices and corners of the car and stairs can be properly done.

As a result of the findings above, we give the Handy Hoover a rating of 1 out of 5 stars.

I’m still on the hunt for a handy little vacuum that will do crevices and corners so do let me know if you know of one.

  1. Wow! I love your honesty in this review. I remember my mom having a hand held vacuum called a dust buster growing up that was very useful. I hope you find a hand held vacuum that meets your needs.

    1. I know it is important to be honest with our reviews. And that’s how it should be. People should get value for the money they are spending and not end up feeling scammed, cheated, and out of pocket. Thanks so much for stopping by. I think I do remember the dust buster. A quick search on Amazon and I’ve found it here! I should check it out.
